  1. I love the picture it paints in verse 20 when it says "wisdom shouts in the streets and cries out in the public square"
It then goes on to depict wisdom saying in verse 22 "How long, you simpletons, will you insist on being simpleminded."

That reminds me of times before I was a christian and I insisted on be simpleminded and not think about deep subjects. I convinced myself that my simple mindedness was enough. Looking back I regret no other philosophys more then this.

I wish nothing more to have gone looking for the wisdom of God teaching sooner because I could be even more in touch with myself, others and God. It amazes me how many people (my self included) can or could have been so simpleminded and not see the benefits of reaching for a deeper understanding.

I see other very intelligent people in my life that cling only to their own wisdom and I thought of them when I goes on to talking about the anguish and distress that will overwhelm them (In verse 27).It reassures me that even the smartest of men still answer to God and without him will be in distress.

  2. Verses 7 and 8 of chapter 2:
He holds victory in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.

These verses just really struck me as I thought about how often I worry about the outcome of situations. Really I should focus on following in God's ways and He will provide the victory!

  3. On a side note, that last post was from Lea, not John, I just don't know how to change it. =)

  4. Alex,

I love your insight that true wisdom is always connected to our love for and surrender to God. We have many "wise" people in our day and age, but the wisdom of those who truly trust God surpases them.

May you and I be people growing in our knoledg of and trust in our God!
